Wars of the Age is an all-purpose fantasy wargame ruleset for rank-and-file armies on hexagonal terrain. It is currently in active development.
A unit is 1-8 combatants grouped into one to two elements. Each element occupies one hex. A unit possesses three basic attributes as well as one or more special attributes:
• Class combines one of four weights (Light, Medium, Heavy and Super) with one of five roles (Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery, Beast and General).
• Strength is found by multiplying its model count by its toughness. This represents the unit's health.
• Quality is conveyed by a polyhedral die from d4-d20. A smaller die means a more powerful unit. If a secondary die is listed, it is intended for firing missiles or casting spells.
Two kinds of dice are used in combat: the unit's polyhedral quality die and up to 3d8 representing advantage. The latter can stack to represent combat bonuses when a unit is outnumbered, outflanked, shaken, etc.
