V1RUS: Roll & Write is a strategic city-building game set in a near-future world threatened by a rapidly spreading viral outbreak. Players take on the role of city planners working to develop safe, functional districts while the virus unpredictably spreads through different zones of the map. The theme focuses on balancing growth and safety, where every new building strengthens your city but also risks exposing it to infection.
Gameplay is played over several rounds, each divided into two phases. In the development phase, players simultaneously draw buildings on their personal maps, expanding their city by placing houses and towers according to placement rules. In the virus phase, one player rolls a die and all players mark the spread of the virus on matching numbered spaces, representing how quickly the outbreak moves through the city. Limited special abilities allow players to bend the rules, reroll the die, or protect key spaces, but using these powers comes at a cost in final scoring.
At the end of the game, players score points for how well they developed their city and balanced different building types. Bonus points can be gained for smart planning and unused abilities, while penalties are applied for buildings exposed to the virus. The player who manages their growth most efficiently while minimizing viral damage and maintaining a balanced city wins the game.
