The Quickening is an app-powered boardgame autobattler for 2 players that plays in about 10 minutes. (Spoiler: nobody stops at one game.)
Lay your unit cards on the battlefield, snap a single photo, and the app awakens your army—marching, shooting, and colliding exactly where you placed them.
Every unit has its own brain. Swordsmen hunt the nearest foe. Archers stop to fire as soon as they have line of sight. Knights sprint for the back line. Tanks grind forward as a stubborn wall. Catapults arc boulders over everything. Hunters slip in behind enemy lines. The Juggernaut barrels through, even shoving allies aside to reach the enemy base. Drop a healer where the wounded will be, or a fireball where the enemy is about to clump (careful! it doesn’t check who’s in the blast).
Each round, discard any number of cards, then refill your hand to six. You and your opponent alternate placements—one card at a time, three each—within your own half of the battlefield. Snap the photo, watch the clash, learn from it, and set up for the next round… without a chance to move the units you placed in the previous rounds.
And here is the twist: you are not just a spectator during the battle! You get one chance, just one, to trigger the Quickening, a brief power surge that supercharges your army while the battle runs itself.
Time it right, adapt between rounds, and claim victory!
