Steppe Born is a brutal, fast-paced tactical skirmish game for 1–4 players set in a frozen prehistoric wilderness.
In this 3' x 3' tabletop experience, players take command of a hunting party of four specialized Paleolithic warriors on a desperate mission to harvest enough meat to sustain their tribe through the winter. But the hunters are not the only predators on the tundra—starvation, fatigue, and prehistoric terrors are always one step behind.
The Hunt is On
Unlike traditional wargames where you simply aim to wipe out the enemy, Steppe Born is a game of objective-based survival. You have a limited window of opportunity to harvest Meat and survive.
Key Features
- Tactical Fatigue System: Pushing your hunters to do more in a turn increases their Fatigue. High fatigue can "stall" your hunters, forcing them to spend precious actions recovering while the wilds close in.
- Dynamic AI Instincts: No game master required. Both the Mammoth and roaming Predators (like Sabre-Tooth Tigers and Rival Hunters) operate on an Instinct Logic system. They react to their health and the proximity of the hunters, ensuring every game is a unique challenge.
- Specialized Hunter Classes: Choose your party from 6 distinct roles, including the reliable Spear Hunter, the savage Chieftain, the beast-master Tamer (with their hunting dogs), and the Shaman.
- High Stakes Survival: The game features a "Downed" state. If a hunter falls, their allies must rush to revive them before the tundra claims them forever—but spending time on first aid means less time for the harvest.
