Build a shared marshy landscape, then claim the best fishing spots, in this tight, tense tile-laying game.
In Reel Rivals, players have a hand of Angler Tiles of value 1-10. Each turn, you'll select an Angler to play. Once all players have selected an Angler, from highest value to lowest, players take turns. On your turn, you'll add a landscape tile to the map, and place your Angler.
As landscape tiles are placed, ponds will form. You'll score points, depending on their size and number of fish, for having the highest value Angler fishing them. You can also equip your anglers with binoculars to also gain points from nearby birds. To win, surround opposing anglers with water, forcing them to abandon their positions, and protect your own with dry land and barriers.
Reel Rivals reimplements the turn order bidding from El Grande and El Caballero, and the tile placement rules from El Caballero, whilst simplifying other elements.
