The ordinarily sleepy hamlet of Jorekburg bustles with activity. Tonight is the Embermoot, a storytelling contest and bonfire held every fourteenth winter solstice. You are one of many hopeful adventurers who have come to town with a knack for spinning tales. The stars are bright, the air is crisp, and the bonfire blazes. Step into the light and recount your daring deeds! Is your story the stuff of legends, or full of plot holes?
Questline is a fast playing, simultaneous play card game for 1-6 players. Compete to earn the most reputation stars (points) by chaining together a sequence of seven cards that tell your hero’s most compelling story, all in about 15 minutes.
Refine your hand swiftly in secret as you search for compatible numbered cards, each depicting events paired with icons and effects that play off of each other. Form these cards into an ascending numerical sequence, optimizing the reputation stars gained while avoiding numerical gaps.
Draw, discard, and swap cards with one another in real time. Discard cards you don’t want face up, where your neighbors can see them. Obtain new cards from the face down decks, from your discards, or from your neighbors discards! Keep an eye out for them to discard the perfect card for your hand.
Once you’re satisfied with your questline, remove your discards from play and claim an epilogue card. The first to finish claim the most valuable epilogues, so don’t take too long. But don’t be too hasty and find yourself with an unmemorable tale full of plot holes, either!
When everyone is finished, players then display their questline, recount their hero’s journey, and tally up. The player with the most stars is proclaimed a legendary storyteller and wins the game! Was your tale an epic victory, or a campfire tale best forgotten?
This game takes place in the World of Ulos setting, first introduced in Roll Player and now home to a series of fantasy games in a shared universe. No experience with other World of Ulos games is required to enjoy Questline. But you may see some familiar faces at the bonfire…
