Period Party is a chaotic trick-taking game for 2–6 players where hosts compete to throw their very own party to celebrate their period. Shifting goals, emotional reversals, and surprise events keep everyone on their toes until the final card. The game is played in Menstru-Nation, a chaotic, colorful world, where mythical creatures all get periods just like we do.
During play you'll collect party materials for your unique period party by satisfying goals that all players compete for over the course of 7 tricks per round. Earning these materials will require awareness, strategy, and a little bit of luck. The first player to collect all tokens for their party wins.
Players play and compare period cards from one of four suits: blood, pad, pain, and care. Each period card features a unique period related object, feeling, or citizen of Menstru-Nation on their period. Within these suits is a split trump hierarchy, where only pad trumps blood, and only care trumps pain. Some period cards also feature special period powers depending on their value. Whether reversing the number hierarchy, resetting the starting suit, or something else entirely, there are plenty of ways to collect tricks towards the goals that you are targeting.
Additionally, each round, players reveal a new event card, inspired by personal experiences or social scenarios, which modifies the rules and adds variety and unpredictability. By cycling through period cards, goal cards, and event cards, no two cycles play the same.
More than just wild fun, Period Party is on a mission to break the period taboo. Periods are woven into every card name, illustration, and flavor text, making the theme impossible to ignore while staying playful and lighthearted. You don’t need to talk about periods to play, but don’t be surprised if laughter sparks unexpected, stigma-busting conversations along the way.
