Night has fallen on the world. Earth has been engulfed by the Artifact, an impossible object that emerged from the depths of space and time. It has folded in on the world in a cosmic embrace, replacing the sky and the stars.
Condemned to regression, humanity has fragmented into islands of light. The population is entrenched behind the fortified walls of autonomous city-states: the Blocks. They obey the dictates of the Administration, an authoritarian supranational structure that works officially to preserve the human race in collaboration with the enigmatic Artifact.
Crushed by the constraints of this new order, men and women nevertheless continue their lives. They work, fight, suffer, love, believe, hope.
