In Nightmare Tales, each player is a kid who has just gone to bed. The lights go out, and the darkness comes, with its terrors and unsettling sounds. Tucked in, lights off. In Nightmare Tales, each player is a kid who has just gone to bed. The lights go out, and the darkness comes, with its terrors and unsettling sounds. Tucked in, lights off. A creak under your bed, a crackle near the wardrobe. Nightmares are coming and the night has just begun.

In this dynamic card game, memory and strategy come together in fast games full of twists.
At first, players have only fears: four random face-down cards: mostly monsters and nightmares. Everyone looks at one of their cards and then put it back. The deck is put in the middle. Then the game starts. Once the game begins, players can’t look at cards unless an effect allows them to.

During their turn, a player draws a card, looks at it, then discards a card and can discard the card they just drew, or one of their cards. If a facedown card is discarded, the drawn card takes its place, facedown. Now funny and unexpected things happen: if the discarded card has an effect, the player must use its effect. Some effects are bad for you, some for everybody. But there are also allies: plushies, fearies and others, ready to help you get through your fears.

The game ends at the break of dawn. Dawn can arrive in three different ways: when a player has no cards, when the deck has no cards left, when a player uses the whole turn to knock twice on the deck triggering the last round. The round goes on until every player has played one last turn. Then, Dawn comes. Everybody show their cards, the one with less fear wins the game.

Will you be the bravest kid?
