Convince the queen through shrewd manipulation and strategic gambits. Match your agenda to your secret interests while battling to keep the queen interested in your side of the conversation. The advisor who impresses the queen most at the end of the council meeting wins! Deal out a row of 5 Mysticana cards between the two players, positioning the queen below the middle card, and deal each player a secret interest. Each turn the active player draws a card, plays a card to their face-up agenda, and swaps a card from their hand with one in the court. The card played to the agenda is compared to the topic matching the queen’s current position, and the queen is shifted based on whether the agenda card’s element is weaker or stronger than the topic. After both players have 5 cards in their agenda, they score it based on the unique conditions found on their interest. If either player managed to get the queen all the way to their end of the court, they also score the court using both players’ interests. Track scores across multiple rounds until one player reaches 40 points and thus earns the queen’s favor! Mysticana is a Foundation Deck: an 18-card deck that includes multiple core games using just the base cards with even more games added through small expansions. The deck features cards with 6 ranks across 3 suits (elements) which have a “rock-paper-scissors” hierarchy. While each game might make use of the deck’s design in different ways, the flexible foundation enables new games to fit in seamlessly alongside previous entries.
